Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun Sound Edition launched at Rs 15.52 lakh: What’s new – Times of India



Volkswagen India has introduced yet another new special edition version for its Taigun and Virtus in the country known as the ‘Sound Edition’. The Taigun Sound Edition is priced from Rs 16.33 lakh, while the Virtus Sound Edition has been launched at a starting price of Rs 15.52 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). The Sound Edition version essentially trickles down the subwoofer and amplifier to the 1.0-litre TSI variants of the two cars.Both the features were previously offered only with the high-end GT Edge trim on the Taigun as well as the Virtus, which was exclusively available with the 1.5-litre TSI motor. Apart from the addition of the subwoofer and amplifier, the Sound Edition variants also get new C-pillar graphics, front electrically-adjustable seats as well as a contrasting white roof and ORVM caps (Taigun only).

No mechanical changes have been made to either of the two MQB A0 IN cars. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine available with the Sound Edition makes 113 hp of max power and 178 Nm of peak torque, and can be had with either a 6-speed MT or an optional 6-speed torque converter auto. Volkswagen also offers the Taigun and Virtus with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol motor generating 148 hp and 250 Nm. A 6-speed manual transmission is offered as standard, while a 7-speed DSG auto is also available.
