GUWAHATI: An Assam Rifles patrol party travelling in a vehicle was attacked with an IED blast and firing by suspected insurgents in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district early morning.
There is no report of any injury among the 10 soldiers travelling in the vehicle who retaliated to foiling the ambush attempt.
A security source said, “A patrol party of 20 Assam Rifles was on an area domination in Saibol area in Tengnoupal and were travelling in a mine protected vehicle.At around 8.15 am there was an attempted ambush by suspected valley-based insurgents who exploded a low intensity IED and followed it with firing from small arms. The troops retaliated and a combing operation has been launched.”
